Objective:

To transform Kristofer’s illustrated manuscript into a professionally formatted, print-ready book that meets publishing standards while enhancing the visual impact of the text and illustrations.

Client Requirement:

Kristofer, a Sudbury-based author, provided illustrations and a Word document for his debut book, My Very Excellent Mother Just Served Us Nine Pizzas — a fun and educational journey through the solar system. He needed assistance in turning his work into a polished book, ensuring proper formatting, readability, and adherence to publishing guidelines for print production.

Design Process:

  • Organized and formatted the manuscript into a cohesive book layout.
  • Enhanced the provided illustrations using Photoshop to improve text readability and ensure a balanced page design.
  • Guided Kristofer through the publishing requirements necessary to sell his book.
  • Prepared the final print-ready files and coordinated with the printer.
  • For the second print run, adjusted illustrations by darkening certain elements and refining details to better align with Kristofer’s vision.
