Editorial cartoons and Infographics

I love drawing on the computer and over the years, I have created a certain style in drawing — especially cartoons.

I have had the privilege of creating several editorial cartoons for the Western Producer in Saskatoon. The managing editor, Brian MacLeod, use to be my boss at The Sudbury Star. Back at The Star, he had me do several cartoons for him ... and at first, it wasn't my strong suit ... but over the MANY years, I now have the hang of it!

One of my FAVOURITE infographics was about Sudbury’s sewer system. It’s not like there were a lot of photo ops! Well, except for the little gators trapped down there ;D lol!
So it was up to me to help explain the system to the readers. And what better way to lay out a story about poop than with a cartoon!
I decided to create a little submarine and give a narration of Star reporter Laura Stricker’s journey through the sewers — with my sense of humour! 😀

Creating website pages, updating products, banners — New logo!

Write for Her Scarves, has had a big year! This year has seen several new products launched — blankets, beanies, and leather bracelet, as well as a new label — WfH (Write for Him).

Surreal Graphics continues to work regularly on Write for Her’s website — creating new banners introducing products and sales, and new pages to showcase the new products.

The owner, Judith Campau, wanted to change her website up. Surreal Graphics has been responsible for creating a new Inspiration page that tells Judith’s story; creating woo commerce products for all her new products and updated her existing products. The menu has also changed, to now include the new WfH line. More changes are coming!

Surreal Graphics also created the quote designs on the leather bracelets, beanies, and blankets, as well as new looks to some popular scarf quotes. We’ve also created a branding packaging for the blanket tags and scarf hangers.

We also create digital forms, posters and banners to help with the promotion of Write for Her’s products.

Memorial Book

This 100-page bilingual book, was a passion project for Paul Lefebvre, Liberal Member of Parliament, Sudbury. To mark the 100th anniversary of the end of hostilities of World War One, this book looks at the service record of 46 Sudbury soldiers.

Surreal Graphics was hired to design and layout the book.
Photocopies of each soldier’s paperwork, along with the English and French bios, were provided. Instead of just placing the soldier’s stats and their paperwork on the page, Sherri took the time to create a special design honouring the soldiers.

Redraw logo, Coffee mug design, Business card, Email signature

Deven reached out to Surreal Graphics to have his logo redrawn. As with many businesses, the original files get lost and images deteriorate after being jpeg or scanned over the years. Deven’s business logo was redrawn and colour corrected. He was provided several digital files: jpeg, png, and pdf. After our quick turnaround, Deven asked if we could create new business cards for him. From the elements created for his business card, we took them and used them for his coffee cups. We then proceeded to create a new email signature for Deven, carrying over the same branding elements from the business card. We then made links from his signature to direct people to different parts of his website and YouTube channel.

Sherri has been a one-stop shop for all of my graphics needs. I have been in the Real Estate business for 27 years and just recently started using her services. I have never had anything even close to the level of her talent and efficiency with the other graphic service providers I have used. She has an amazing eye for detail and makes great recommendations and then puts it all together. Pull-up banner and update cartoon police officer

The Sudbury Region Police Museum is a great place to learn about the history of the police service in Sudbury.

To help promote the tours available, Surreal graphics was hired to create a pull-up banner that would attract the main audience (school children).
The original police officer was hand-drawn years ago and had been scanned and photocopied over the years. The same thing for the logo of the Sudbury Region Police Museum. The first task for Sherri was to redraw the museum logo and then give the police officer character an updated look, but stay close to the original design.

Illustrations

Not all our customers are business owners needing help to market their products or service. Some of our customers reach out to us for our artistic ability!

For those who have fur babies, or you know someone who does, you understand how precious they are to our hearts! That’s why most of our illustrations are of animals!

Many of our clients are custom ordering paintings for a gift to a special someone in their life.

One of our special projects came after our client’s father’s dog passed away. She wanted to have a painting done of his three hunting dogs together. Problem was, only two of them were alive at the same time — and being hunting dogs, sitting still was NOT in their nature!
Our client sent us several photos of the dogs, except the oldest one (as Tess was pre-phone times).
Now, our client has moved to the top of the "favourite" child ladder — how couldn’t she?! She gave her dad a painting that couldn’t be captured in a photo!!!!!
