Objective:
To adapt the short film Snowflake into a children’s book that maintains the original’s emotional impact and lyrical style, while making it suitable and engaging for young readers — both in print and on Kindle.
Client Requirement:
We received a script of short, rap-style sentences based on the film, which needed to be restructured into a cohesive children’s book with rhythmic flow and emotional clarity.
The text needed editing to strike a balance between expressive rhythm and proper language for young audiences.
The visuals also had to complement the tone of the story, requiring guidance for illustrators and careful layout to ensure full-page spreads and pacing worked across formats.
Design Process:
We began by working with the compiled text — stitching the short, punchy sentences into a flowing story arc that stayed true to the original voice while ensuring clarity and structure for young readers.
We also provided illustration direction to the original artist and later facilitated communication and creative alignment with the second illustrator after a team change. This included several Zoom calls, proofing rounds, and layout revisions to make sure the illustrations and text worked together seamlessly.
Once the physical layout was finalized, we reworked the design for Kindle formatting to ensure accessibility on digital platforms.
Through every round of edits and every timezone-spanning call, this book remained rooted in its core message: your voice is worth following.
