Project overview

Tania Fay

Objective:

To refine, format, and visually enhance Tania Fay’s debut novel, Eile O’Neill: The Oracle, ensuring it was polished, immersive, and publication-ready. As her second book, Eile O’Neill: The Coven of Light, took shape, the goal expanded to include cover design, interior formatting, and marketing materials to establish a cohesive, professional brand for her series.

Client Requirement:

  • Developmental and technical editing to ensure readability, clarity, and consistency in storytelling — especially in distinguishing inner monologues between characters.
  • Formatting and pagination for both print and digital editions.
  • A custom-designed map of Aroghal School of Magic and Witchcraft, bringing the world of the novel to life.
  • A Celtic-inspired design element for chapter headings to enhance the Irish folklore theme.
  • Full cover illustration, softcover, hardcover wrap, and layout design for book two.
  • Marketing materials, including a pull-up banner, press release, and social media promos for book launches.

Design Process:

  • The project began with editing and refining Tania’s manuscript while ensuring the shifts in perspective and inner monologues were clear to readers.
  • From there, the focus turned to formatting, incorporating a Celtic knot and typography that reflected the novel’s Irish roots.
  • The world-building extended beyond the text with a detailed map illustration, enriching the reader’s experience.
  • For The Coven of Light, I designed an original cover that seamlessly connected with the first book’s aesthetic.
  • To support the first book’s launch, I created promotional materials, including a pull-up banner for events that was designed to create mystery, and I had hidden faeries in the design that I drew to look like Tania’s children; a press release to gain media attention; and Facebook teasers to generate buzz.
  • Each step was crafted to align with Tania’s vision while ensuring her books were polished and ready for publication — both in print and as eBooks available on Amazon.
